Boston police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery reported in Roxbury late last summer.

The robbery was reported at about 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the area of Ruggles Street and Leon Street, police said. Investigators allege the suspect confronted a victim, lifted his shirt and gestured as if he had a weapon, then stole the victim’s electric scooter before fleeing.

Suspect description and what detectives are seeking

Police described the suspect as a Black male, about 6 feet tall with a slim build. At the time of the incident, he was reported to be wearing a dark-colored T-shirt (gray or black), black track pants and a black hat.

Detectives assigned to Boston Police District B-2 are handling the investigation and are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the encounter, including the suspect’s actions and direction of flight.

  • Incident location: Ruggles Street and Leon Street, Roxbury

  • Date and time: July 26, 2025, about 6:55 p.m.

For those who prefer to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted through CrimeStoppers by calling 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463). Police said photos and videos can also be submitted anonymously, and the department will protect the identity of people who provide information confidentially.

Police are asking anyone with information that could help identify the suspect to contact District B-2 detectives or submit an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers.

Why police use public identification requests

Public identification alerts are typically issued when investigators believe images, witness information, or community recognition could help establish a suspect’s identity. In robbery investigations, identifying a suspect can also help detectives determine whether the same individual may be connected to other incidents with similar methods.

No arrest has been announced in connection with this case. The investigation remains active.
