Boston police investigate early-morning break-ins targeting South Boston businesses along East Broadway, with surveillance video under review

Investigation focuses on a recent cluster of commercial break-ins
Boston police are investigating a series of early-morning break-ins targeting businesses in South Boston, with incidents reported along East Broadway over the course of about a week. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and asking the public to share information that could help identify a suspect and connect related cases.
The break-ins have drawn attention from owners and employees who say the intrusions have disrupted operations and caused damage in addition to theft. Police have not released a total number of affected businesses or provided an overall dollar estimate for losses tied to the cluster.
The Paramount break-in: forced entry, damage, and cash taken
One of the reported incidents involved The Paramount, a South Boston restaurant. Surveillance video provided to police shows a man inside the business attempting to access a safe, and also striking at equipment in the office area.
In that case, the person entered through a rear door and took cash, including service tips. Investigators said the suspect accessed two registers and disabled the business’s internet. The office area also sustained damage, including shattered bottles of alcohol and damaged or removed security equipment.
Police are reviewing surveillance video and investigating whether the break-in is connected to other recent incidents along the same corridor.
Pattern of overnight commercial burglaries in Boston
The South Boston reports come amid other recent Boston-area investigations into commercial break-ins and burglary patterns. In 2025, Boston police issued community alerts in other districts describing overnight entries into businesses using tools to pry doors or force access. Police have also made arrests in separate cases, including a South Boston commercial break-in in February 2025 that led to an arrest after officers responded to an alarm on Dorchester Street and later located a suspect during patrol hours.
Authorities have not stated that the East Broadway incidents are part of the same pattern as those earlier cases, but detectives typically examine method of entry, timing, and property targeted when determining whether multiple break-ins are linked.
What investigators are asking from the public
- Review personal or business security footage from overnight hours in the East Broadway area.
- Report suspicious activity observed near rear doors, alleys, or service entrances.
- Share information with District C-6 detectives through established police reporting channels.
The investigation remains active. Police have asked anyone with information about the South Boston break-ins or the person seen in surveillance video to contact District C-6 detectives.
