Official City Council and Planning Meetings

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, several key legislative and planning sessions are scheduled at Boston City Hall and virtually. The City Council Committee on Government Operations is holding a working session regarding Docket #0161 at 10:00 a.m. This session is conducted virtually via Zoom for public viewing. Later this afternoon, the Committee on City Services will convene at 2:00 p.m. in the Iannella Chamber on the fifth floor of City Hall for a hearing on Docket #0187. Members of the public are invited to attend and offer testimony.

Additionally, the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting starting at 3:30 p.m. The board will meet in Room 900 on the 9th floor of City Hall to discuss various development projects and economic initiatives across the city's neighborhoods.

Landmark District Commission Updates

The South End Landmark District Commission has issued updates regarding its subcommittee meetings scheduled for today. A meeting will take place at 1:00 p.m. at 35 Braddock Park to conduct a design review for proposed roof deck work under application #26.0590 SE. However, residents should note that the subcommittee meeting originally scheduled for 10:00 a.m. regarding 63 Appleton Street has been officially canceled due to a lack of a quorum of commissioners.

Public Health Advisories and State Proclamations

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) continues to monitor respiratory illness trends. Recent reports indicate that while seasonal flu activity is beginning to subside, there has been a tragic update with the eighth pediatric flu death recorded in the state this season. Residents are also advised to check their immunization records following the report of two confirmed measles cases in the region. Furthermore, a federal judge in Boston recently issued a preliminary injunction staying certain federal changes to immunization schedules, effectively restoring previous vaccination guidelines for the time being.

In observance of state-wide standards, Governor Maura Healey has officially proclaimed March 2026 as Ethics Awareness Month. This initiative emphasizes the importance of integrity, accountability, and transparency in municipal and state government service.

Service Reminders and Community Engagement

Public Works reminds residents that daytime street cleaning parking restrictions are currently in effect for the North End, South End, and Beacon Hill neighborhoods. In all other city neighborhoods, daytime street sweeping is scheduled to resume on April 1. Always check posted signage to avoid ticketing or towing.

Finally, the Office of Police Accountability and Transparency (OPAT) will host a community meeting this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. The session will be held at the Boston Public Library - Grove Hall Branch in the Jazz Lounge. This meeting offers a space for residents to engage with the commission and provide feedback on local public safety matters.
