Delta will restore nonstop Boston-to-Honolulu service in December 2026 after route paused last year

Nonstop Boston–Honolulu returns to Logan in Delta’s winter 2026 schedule
Delta Air Lines plans to restore nonstop flights between Boston Logan International Airport and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu beginning Dec. 19, 2026, bringing back a route that has seen shifting service in recent years. The airline previously operated the Boston–Honolulu market on a seasonal basis, then discontinued the service after its initial run.
Delta’s latest plan calls for increased flying during the late-December peak period, followed by a reduced frequency for the remainder of the winter season. The carrier has said it will operate the route using Airbus A330-300 widebody aircraft.
A route that has cycled with demand and capacity
Delta first entered the Boston–Honolulu market with a seasonal launch in late 2024, operating the service through April 30, 2025. The airline had described the route as a major long-haul domestic addition from Boston, using a Boeing 767-300ER at the time.
While Delta’s service did not continue after that first season, the broader Boston–Honolulu nonstop market also changed. Hawaiian Airlines, which had served Boston–Honolulu since 2019, announced in August 2025 that it would suspend the route, citing persistent market challenges and soft demand. Hawaiian scheduled its final Boston–Honolulu nonstop for Nov. 19, 2025. After that, Boston no longer had a nonstop option to Honolulu.
What travelers should expect
Start date: Dec. 19, 2026.
Service pattern: daily flying during peak late-December travel, then shifting to four flights per week through the winter season.
Aircraft: Airbus A330-300.
Part of a broader Delta Hawaii expansion
The Boston–Honolulu restart is part of Delta’s larger winter Hawaii schedule, which also includes new seasonal service between Minneapolis–St. Paul and Maui beginning Dec. 19. Delta has framed the winter 2026 lineup as an expansion across multiple mainland gateways, aligning capacity with long-haul leisure demand during the winter travel season.
The return of a Boston–Honolulu nonstop restores a direct link between New England and Hawaii after roughly a year without any nonstop service following Hawaiian’s November 2025 exit.
For Boston-area travelers, the reinstated route is expected to provide a nonstop alternative to itineraries that require connections through West Coast hubs, particularly during the winter peak when Hawaii demand typically rises.
