Clemson pulls away with decisive second-quarter surge

Clemson’s women’s basketball team used a dominant closing stretch before halftime to roll past Boston College, 83-59, on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina. The result moved Clemson to 17-8 overall and 8-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while Boston College fell to 4-22 and 0-13 in the ACC.

With the game tied 24-24 in the second quarter, Clemson seized control with a 17-3 run over the final seven minutes of the half, taking a 41-27 lead into intermission. The Tigers extended the margin steadily and closed the game by outscoring the Eagles 21-9 in the fourth quarter.

Moore’s efficiency anchors Clemson’s offense

Senior guard Mia Moore delivered the defining performance, scoring a career-high 30 points while adding 12 rebounds and six assists. Moore shot 10-for-13 from the field and recorded her sixth double-double of the season. Clemson had four players score in double figures, reflecting a balanced attack built around Moore’s high-volume efficiency.

Graduate forward Demeara Hinds posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds. Junior guard Rusne Augustinaite scored 15 points, and senior guard Taylor Johnson-Matthews added 10.

  • Clemson shooting: 33-for-58 (56.9%) from the field
  • Clemson three-point shooting: 9-for-18
  • Rebounding: Clemson 41, Boston College 27

Defense shapes the game: Boston College held to 32.8% shooting

Clemson’s defensive execution was central to the margin. Boston College finished 20-for-61 (32.8%) from the field, and the Eagles did not make a two-point field goal in the first half. Boston College’s first-half scoring relied heavily on three-pointers and free throws, but Clemson’s ability to defend without fouling and control the glass limited second chances and prevented sustained runs.

For Boston College, Erin Houpt led the team with 14 points and made all three of her attempts from three-point range.

What the result means in the ACC race

The win gave Clemson its eighth conference victory, the program’s highest ACC win total since the 2018-19 season. It also marked Clemson’s fourth win in its last five games, reinforcing a profile defined by efficient offense and consistent opponent suppression.

Clemson’s separation came from two swing areas: elite shot-making at high volume and a first-half defensive performance that removed Boston College’s interior scoring.
