Miami overwhelms Boston College 76-54 in ACC play as Eagles’ offense fades after early lead

Miami turns a one-possession game into a runaway win in Coral Gables

Miami closed the home portion of its regular season series with Boston College by pulling away for a 76-54 victory on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The result dropped Boston College to 10-19 overall and 3-13 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while Miami improved to 23-6 overall and 12-4 in the ACC.

The game’s defining stretch came after Boston College’s fast start. The Eagles led 13-6 early, but Miami flipped the tempo and spacing over the final 15 minutes of the first half, outscoring Boston College 30-6 to take a 36-19 halftime advantage. During one sequence in that run, Boston College missed 12 of 13 shots, allowing Miami to separate without needing a high-possession pace.

Second-half run pushes the margin beyond reach

Boston College stabilized briefly after intermission, but Miami again created separation with a 13-2 surge near the middle of the second half, extending the lead to 55-31. With the margin established, Miami continued to add points through a balanced scoring approach, including perimeter bursts that prevented any sustained comeback bid.

Guard Tre Donaldson led Miami with 15 points. Tru Washington added 14 points, and center Ernest Udeh Jr. posted 11 points and 12 rebounds, giving Miami a steady interior presence on both ends. Off the bench, Noam Dovrat provided a notable lift, hitting 4 of 5 three-point attempts on the way to a season-high 12 points.

Kapke carries Boston College scoring; Miami secures series split since records began

For Boston College, forward Boden Kapke scored 18 points, supplying much of the early offense and finishing as the game’s top scorer for the Eagles. Fred Payne and Jayden Hastings scored 11 points apiece, but Boston College struggled to generate efficient looks once Miami’s first-half run tightened the game’s margins.

The win brought the all-time series to 31-31. In the ACC standings, Miami remained in third place with two regular-season games left, a position that matters under the league’s tournament format, where the top four teams receive byes into the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament scheduled for March 10–14 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

What’s next

  • Miami is scheduled to visit SMU on Wednesday before returning home to host Louisville on Saturday.

  • Boston College is set to play at Virginia on Tuesday and then host Notre Dame on Saturday.

Key swing: after trailing 13-6, Miami closed the first half on a 30-6 run and entered halftime up 36-19.
