Official Notice: City Council Hearings, Neighborhood Updates, and Public Works Alerts for March 3

The city of Boston has issued several public notices and schedules for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, including important updates for residents regarding public hearings, neighborhood meetings, and essential services.
City Council and Licensing Hearings
The Boston City Council will hold two significant committee hearings today at City Hall in the Christopher A. Iannella Chamber. At 10:00 a.m., the Committee on Human Services will convene to discuss Docket #0285. Later this afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., the Committee on City Services will meet to review Dockets #0270, #0291, and #0292. Both hearings are open to the public and will be broadcast on Xfinity Channel 8 and Fios 964.
In addition to the legislative sessions, the Licensing Board for the City of Boston is conducting a Virtual Licensed Premise Inspection Hearing from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This meeting will address compliance matters for licensed establishments across the city. Members of the public who wish to provide testimony can participate through the city's official virtual portal.
Neighborhood and Landmark Commission Notices
Residents in the South End are notified of a virtual public hearing held by the South End Landmark District Commission starting at 5:30 p.m. today. The commission will review several applications for historic preservation, including window replacements on Rutland Square and streetscape improvements on Albany Street. Participation is available via the Zoom platform using the meeting ID provided on the official city public notice page.
The Charlestown Neighborhood Council is also scheduled to meet tonight at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in person at the Knights of Columbus, located at 425 Medford Street. This session serves as a platform for local residents to engage with community leaders on current neighborhood projects and safety initiatives.
Public Works: Street Cleaning Adjustments
The Public Works Department has announced a modification to the 2026 street cleaning schedule. While daytime street sweeping normally resumes on March 1 for the North End, South End, and Beacon Hill, the city has officially delayed enforcement for these neighborhoods until March 16, 2026. This delay allows the department to complete late-winter maintenance tasks before the full resumption of the daytime program. Residents should note that nighttime sweeping on arterial and commercial roads continues as scheduled year-round.
Public Safety and Seasonal Advisories
A regional winter weather advisory is in effect for Tuesday, March 3, due to a predicted wintry mix of sleet and ice. While the most significant impacts are expected north and west of Interstate 95, Boston commuters and pedestrians are urged to prepare for slick road conditions during the evening commute. The National Weather Service advises allowing extra travel time and maintaining safe distances between vehicles.
Additionally, the city reminds all households to complete the Annual Census. State law requires this annual update to maintain accurate voter rolls and ensure the proper allocation of municipal resources and emergency services. Residents can complete the form online or return the physical copy recently sent to their primary address.
