Police seek suspect after reported attack on Boston middle school students during North End dismissal

Incident reported near TD Garden area during Wednesday afternoon dismissal

Boston police are seeking the public’s help to locate a 32-year-old Cambridge resident after an alleged assault involving multiple students during school dismissal on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The incident was reported at about 3:19 p.m. in the North End/Causeway Street area, a high-foot-traffic corridor near TD Garden and government buildings.

Investigators said the reported assault occurred as students from a nearby school were leaving for the day. Police have said they obtained multiple arrest warrants for the suspect, identified as Seitu Morel. The department has urged community members not to approach the suspect and to call 911 if they recognize him.

What police say happened outside the Eliot Upper School

In a description of the incident, police reports indicate that students were gathered near the Eliot Upper School, which serves upper grades, when the suspect approached. The reports describe an escalation that resulted in a physical attack on at least one student and an additional reported assault on an adult who tried to assist.

Police said they reviewed surveillance video and described the suspect as appearing unprovoked in the moments leading up to the encounter.

The student involved was taken to a hospital by a parent, police reports state. Boston Public Schools directed inquiries about the case to police.

Additional allegations tied to the same suspect

Police have also linked the suspect to a separate set of allegations immediately after the March 4 assault. Investigators say the suspect walked onto a charter bus near TD Garden and attempted to steal a bag left unattended while passengers attended a Boston Celtics game. Police said this conduct is among the reasons warrants were sought.

In addition, police said warrants were issued for the suspect in connection with a separate incident on Feb. 25, 2026, involving alleged assault and battery and unarmed robbery on Beacon Street in Brighton.
