Official Public Meetings and Hearings

Several municipal boards and commissions are scheduled to convene on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in the local democratic process through the following sessions:

  • Public Improvement Commission: The commission will meet at 10:00 AM at Boston City Hall. The agenda includes reviews of various street-level improvements and public space usage requests.
  • State Ethics Commission: A remote public session is scheduled for 9:30 AM. The meeting will address adjudicatory matters and division metrics for the start of the year. The public may join via the provided teleconference links on the official state website.
  • Municipal Lobbying Compliance Commission: This body will meet at 12:00 PM in the Piemonte Room on the 5th floor of City Hall. Key agenda items include the approval of previous meeting minutes and a progress update from the City Clerk regarding lobbying registrations.
  • Rare Disease Advisory Council (RDAC): The RDAC Steering Committee will hold a virtual public meeting from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM to discuss infectious disease laboratory sciences and public health coordination.
  • KIPP Academy Boston: The Board of Trustees for KIPP Academy Boston and Lynn will hold a joint virtual meeting at 9:00 AM to discuss charter school operations and administrative updates.

Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Flu Risks

The Boston Public Health Commission and state health officials have issued an advisory regarding elevated influenza risks, particularly for older adults. Following a report of 260 flu-related deaths across the Commonwealth as of mid-February, medical officials are urging seniors to monitor for non-traditional symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, or sudden fatigue. Vaccination remains the most effective tool in reducing the severity of the illness, even this late in the winter season. Residents are reminded to practice frequent handwashing and avoid close contact with symptomatic individuals.

Transportation and Infrastructure Updates

The MBTA has announced maintenance work affecting the Silver Line for the evening of Thursday, February 26. Starting at 8:30 PM and continuing through the end of service, Silver Line routes SL1, SL2, and SL3 will operate at the street level between Silver Line Way and South Station. Accessible surface road service will replace the usual underground service to facilitate necessary tunnel maintenance. Commuters should budget extra travel time and use designated stops at Summer Street and Seaport Boulevard.

Procurement and Bidding Opportunities

The City of Boston, through the Boston Public Schools (BPS) Superintendent, has set a deadline for several major service bids. Proposals for on-call asbestos removal and abatement at various BPS facilities (Group 1 and Group 2) must be submitted through the City’s Supplier Portal or to the Awarding Authority by 12:00 PM today. Bids will be opened immediately following the deadline.
