Arrests follow reported armed and masked robbery near Bunker Hill Street

Two men were arrested in Charlestown after police say a store clerk reported being robbed at gunpoint during the early evening hours of Monday, Dec. 30, 2024. Investigators said the suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, prompting a rapid search in the surrounding neighborhood.

The arrests came after officers responding to the call received updated descriptions and images from surveillance footage, then concentrated their search along the suspects’ reported escape route, authorities said.

Timeline and location details

Police said officers assigned to the Charlestown-area district were dispatched at about 6:17 p.m. to a store on Bunker Hill Street. The initial report stated the business had been robbed at gunpoint, with the suspects leaving the scene and heading toward Monument Street and O’Reilly Way.

  • Incident reported: about 6:17 p.m., Dec. 30, 2024

  • Location: a store on Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown

  • Reported loss: an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency

  • Suspects’ reported route: Monument Street toward O’Reilly Way, then toward the Medford Street area

How police located the suspects

Detectives responded to the store, obtained security video, and distributed suspect images and descriptions to officers working nearby, police said. The suspects were then reported running toward the area of Medford Street, where officers began canvassing streets and buildings.

During that canvass, police said officers encountered one suspect exiting an apartment and took him into custody. Officers then knocked and announced their presence at the apartment, where police said the second suspect came to the door and was arrested. Authorities said the apartment was secured while officers sought a search warrant.

Police said the investigation relied on surveillance footage, rapid dissemination of suspect descriptions, and a coordinated search by officers in the vicinity.

Charges and court proceedings

Police identified the arrested men as Michael Dacey, 41, of Wakefield, and Corey Roy, 40, of Charlestown. Authorities said both were charged with armed and masked robbery. Dacey also faced an additional charge of furnishing a false name, police said.

Both men were arraigned in Charlestown District Court, authorities said. Details about any plea, bail conditions, or future court dates were not included in the initial police announcement.

What remains unresolved

Police have not publicly disclosed the amount of money taken or whether a firearm was recovered. Authorities also have not provided additional details about injuries, if any, or whether further charges could be sought as the investigation continues.
